Appeals Court Against California Same-Sex Marriage Ban

A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found Proposition 8, the California ban on same-sex marriage approved by voters in 2008, “works a meaningful harm to gays and lesbians” by denying them equal rights.

While gay rights activists called the decision a triumph, the conservative Christian legal foundation The Alliance Defense Fund was not surprised that “this Hollywood-orchestrated attack on marriage — tried in San Francisco — turned out this way.”

“What can you expect from a bunch of homos in the movie industry and in ‘Gay Francisco’ but this kind of abomination” said Scott Trotter, a spokesman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which backed the California ballot initiative. “Marriage is a sacred bond between a man and several women, some of whom may be underage and involved against their will, just as Jesus wanted it.”

Obama Sets “Outside” Fundraisers Loose

The President clarifies his position on "outside" fundraisers.

President Barack Obama has apparently had second thoughts about his stand on “outside” political fund raisers such as super PACs and so-called “bundlers”. During a conference call with major bundlers late Monday night, Barack Obama‚Äôs re-election campaign encouraged donors to raise funds for a Democratic super PAC supporting the president.

“We have to have a level playing field” an Obama spokesperson said. “And in our case that means raising more money than all the previous presidential candidates combined. We’re shooting for several trillion dollars. Hey, the cost of sending out mailers has just gone up due to postal rate hikes.”
